lacrosse in Mountain Lakes

Post by Mme Bessin on Mon Mar 28, 2016 8:17 pm

Lacrosse is a sport of native American origins.  Native Americans played for religious reasons and for warriors to bring honor and glory to their tribe.

Overview:  Players use sticks with heads (see photo) to throw and catch the ball.
Objective:  To pass the ball and score more goals than the other team.

In girls' lacrosse, there are 10 girls on the field and one goalie.  Girls' lacrosse is less physical than boys' lacrosse because girls wear less protective gear.  Many people play in Mountain Lakes.  We have won many state championships and other awards.  Boys also have 10 players and one goalie.  The boys wear more protective gear and the game is more physical.  The boys' sticks have a deeper net to catch the ball with.  It is easier to catch and throw in boys lacrosse, but harder to score because the game is more physical.  ---- Samantha

What kind of goal is it? a kind of basket? What about the pitch or field? is it the same size as a soccer one?

Lacrosse is played on a soccer field, but the boundaries are smaller. Here are pictures of a typical lacrosse field and goal. response to Brigitte
